INCLUDED ON THE GUEST LIST

09:45 - 19 February 2008

A Reception to mark the official launch of the American Friends of Boston Stump will be held at the residence of the British Consul General to New England, Dr Philip Budden.

The building in Chestnut Street, Beacon Hill, in Boston, Massachusetts, lies in one of the most expensive neighbourhoods in the city.

Dr Budden, originally from Southampton, became Consul General last summer.

Featured speakers at the reception will include Ellis L. Phillips III, chairman of the American Friends of the Boston Stump.

He is the third generation of an industrial dynasty started in the early 20th century by Ellis Laurimore Phillips, an electrical engineer who founded the Long Island Lighting Company.

There will also be a travelling contingent from Lincolnshire, including the Vicar of Boston the Reverend Robin Whitehead, who will make a speech, and the Mayor of Boston, Coun Michael Brooks.

The event, which has a capacity of 65 people, already has a waiting list of society figures keen to attend.
